A Brief Background

As a Certified Financial Planner™ Professional (CFP®) and a graduate of San Francisco State University with a Masters degree in Business Administration (MBA), Lewis Perkins has an extensive academic background and maintains awareness of current affairs and economics.  Prior to working the last twenty years in various aspects of financial services, insurance, and real estate, he worked eight years as a Computer Systems Analyst and Consultant at TRW, GTE Data Services, and Computer Associates.

Lewis Perkins, while pragmatic and goal oriented, reveals a creative and humanistic view. Mr. Perkins achieved a BA degree in Architecture from UC Berkeley in 1973.  Lewis has traveled extensively to the Baltic, Adriatic, Istanbul, the Black Sea, Continental Europe, Malaysia, Singapore, Laos, Cambodia, Viet Nam, Thailand, Tahiti, Canada, Central America, Peru, Chile, Argentina, and Ecuador.  The connection with local inhabitants and camaraderie with sojourners from throughout the world has provided an empathetic, expanded global perspective.

To facilitate coordination and cooperation between conflicting parties, in 2010 Lewis Perkins completed a Mediation training program through California State University at Dominguez Hills and Centinela Youth Services.  The program included mediating 26 live family sessions covering the topics of Negotiation, Conflict Resolution & Peace Building.

Mr. Perkins is a member of the LA County Art Museum, Sierra Club, Union of Concerned Scientists, CATO Institute, Wilshire Boulevard Temple, Architecture and Design Museum of Los Angeles, and served over 5 years as Chairman of Northeast Neighbors his local residential association in Santa Monica.  Importantly, Lewis belongs to the Combined LA/Westside Multiple Listing Service, is a lifetime member of SRAR, and Realtor® participant of California & National Association of Realtors®.  Further, Lewis contributes to Doctors without Borders, Earth Justice, Oxfam, Public Citizen, various Public Radio stations, Viet Nam Veterans of California, Adopt a Minefield, and UC Berkeley.

Lewis is a proud father of two children who are developing into well-rounded, productive, and happy people.  Lewis enjoys art museums, good music, wine tasting in Central California, and keeps healthy with Pilates and yoga.  Unquestionably, his favorite activity is nurturing an eclectic garden in Santa Monica, including an appearance on NBC-TV "Locally Green" for successfully cultivating coffee, among other exotic edible plants like guavas, persimmons, apricots, figs, tangerines, and blackberries.  Lewis Perkins is a contributor and writer in the “Home Growers Circle” at www.ForageLA.com and to the Huffington Post www.HuffingtonPost.com
